So developers and publishers will have to reveal the odds of getting stuff inside loot boxes on the iOS store now. This is a pretty big step. What do you guys think of this?
Never a fan of apple, they are not as clean as they want people to think they are but props to them for doing the right thing.
Excellent, keep the balls rolling. Never bought another iOS after IPhone 5s, which is kinda rip off.
!song
I now completely forgive the audio jack removal thing
This is most likely because Apple still wants to make money in China.
If the word odds appears in anything that kinda gives you a clue.
You guys are all doing very good work and consistently pushing an good narrative. Thanks for being a voice for us gamers.
They are covering their asses, they know gov regulations are coming with fines on those responsible for child gamble addiction.
So now any new games that do it on their apple machine cannot say, but apple allows these things, and drag apple with them.
Great, now all we need is Android, Sony, Microsoft and Valve to follow
So, they are now making publishers/developers admit there games have paid loot boxes in them (a game of chance), isnt that near enough admitting it is by definition (Oxford dictionary not legal definition) gambling…..
Never thought id thanks apple lol.
Bout time y’all do something
I love the idea of not only gamers hating EA for all the shit they do but now other game developers are going to hate EA for going too far with loot boxes and ruining them
This is a nice change and all, but I'm still rocking an IPad 2 and I'll wager this change won't come to my iOS store since it only goes up to version 9 point something.
There is loot boxes in Dragon ball Xenoverse 2 where there are action figures where you battle each other.
So Loot boxes and literally any interesting topic walk into a bar and Pretty Good Gaming (The bartender) says "Oh, is that you Loot boxes?"
I would like to see what supercell does with clash royal now ..
thank you EA finaly something good come out of you
oh shit a reason to actually like apple now we need this every where starting with steam games.
Thank you Apple! I hope Steam will be next!

That's all good and nice, but who or what will guarantee that the odds stated by the developers are the actual odds of getting an item? Like, you know, what if a dev claims that the chance to get this awesome epic item is about 5% while in fact, it's actually only 1,5%?
Due to the wording, as was pointed out in a Jim Sterling video, all the game companies have to do is sell something like a virtual currency or other worthless item and give the lootbox for free thus not having to disclose the drop rates.
Everyone knows you are buying the lootbox, but technically you arent. If apple was doing this for consumers it would say any and all items offering random rewards have to disclose in a tooltip the chances for every item contained inside.
This is just an attempt at saying, look we care and can self regulate, so that the government will keep their claws out of the industry and so that customers will forget and get back to spending thousands of dollars for meh games.
Let's wait until this rule comes to a REAL gaming platform.
Now if apple only paid their taxes …
Loot boxes are just a microcosm of the video game industry, empty joy. Video games are an addiction and they harm the players. Consider all the time and money you would have right now if you weren't throwing your life away on video games. I know, I was an addict once just like you. I you want help breaking this addiction. If you want to feel normal again, I am here for you. Together, if we are brave we can overcome this. You aren't afraid, are you? #stopgaming
After Pulse and the dev team prior to the reboot was a huge player in making tbid happen to help users. Not that they were all for users but they were probably the worst at micro transactions.
Another sign that 2018 will be great
yeah, apple is just covering themselves. and any other group doing this will be "copying Apple's good will"…
Is it possible to determine if they are lying or posting incorrect odds. What about pity timers etc
Man that's gonna affect clash royale
I’m always confused, even if the dev disclose the odds, is there some one or some testing system that apple can determine if the disclosed odds are real? What if the dev says the chance is 30% while it’s actually 3%?
yeah, it is somewhat…a good thing. but
I have say, what would stop game company/developers from lying the success/drop rates etc.?
and also, people going to spend no matter how transparent the loot/drop/success rate are.
To advance/beat to the next level, some of the games out there, requires you to be strong. As in have stronger weapon and armors.
Apple did apple do something customer friendly?… what year am i in?
It's still fucking gambling!
You guys should do some research, FIFA had "card packs" before mobile phones had screens.
Finally something good with loot boxes
Good fucking job Apple. This is why you’re awesome
